Gearing up for the 2019-20 campaign, management at OUMC announced a series of big changes the past 2 Sundays. On March 10, it was announced that the current pastor, Rev. Mark Terry, had been appointed to Covenant UMC in Springfield, effective July 1st. On March 17, the congregation learned that Rev. Bernard “Bern” Kefer would be the new pastor, also effective July 1.
“Terry has been a good fit for us,” an unnamed sourced shared with us. “Decent glove, high OBP, could play most positions in the field. But with Kefer we think we’ve got someone who can hit for power, and is an effective closer in tight situations.”
In reality, Bishop Johnson and her cabinet appoint the pastors to all the United Methodist Churches across Eastern Pennsylvania, and after 10 years under appointment at Oxford, Rev. Terry and his family will begin a new ministry at Covenant. His last Sunday in Oxford will be June 23. Rev. Kefer and his wife Vicky will be wrapping up their work with Zion UMC (Coal Township) and Clark’s Grove UMC (Paxinos) around the same time, and his first Sunday will be July 7. We are thankful for 10 years of ministry with the Terrys and are looking forward to a long and fruitful partnership with the Kefers.
